Inspired by the iconic Toile de Jouy, our exclusive Château de la Carrière toile celebrates the art of storytelling through fabric. Traditionally, Toile de Jouy featured beautifully illustrated pastoral scenes printed in a single colour on a light background. Our interpretation honours this classic French style while giving it a distinctly Château de la Carrière twist.
Designed exclusively by Sophie Thé (@sophiethestylist) this toile took over a year to create, with every illustration carefully drawn to tell the story of life at the château.
Remaining true to the heritage of classic toile, we have chosen the two most traditional colourways—blue and green—allowing the design to feel both timeless and unmistakably French while complementing both classic and contemporary interiors.
As you explore the design, you'll discover many of the characters and places that make Château de la Carrière so special: Fleur, our much-loved English Cockerspaniel , the château cats, the greenhouse, Ziggy the zebra, and many other hidden details that capture the charm of the estate.
And for those with a sharp eye… can you spot the Australian surprise? Hidden within the design is a tiny kangaroo—a playful nod to Sophie's Australian roots and the journey that eventually brought her back to France.
We wanted this fabric to be more than simply beautiful. We wanted it to become a lasting memory of Château de la Carrière—a piece of the château that you can take home and enjoy for years to come.
To ensure the highest quality, our toile is printed just a short distance away in Laval by Tissus d'Avesnières, a remarkable family-run textile house whose history stretches back to 1881. Now in its fifth generation, the company continues to preserve the finest traditions of French textile printing while combining them with modern craftsmanship. Their dedication has earned them the prestigious Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company) label as well as the France Terre Textile certification, recognising exceptional French manufacturing and craftsmanship.
