Join us in May 2026 for a special stay. Australian garden designer Paul Bangay will host his first tour in France, exploring beautiful gardens in the Pays de Loire region. We will visit famous gardens like Villandry, known for its perfect ornamental gardens, and the Peony Chateau, home to the largest peony collection in the world.

We will also see private gardens and meet their passionate owners, including a visit to La Rongere, the private chateau and gardens of designer Bridget Elsworthy from the Landgardeners, along with a few other special stops. You’ll have the chance to spend time with Paul in the chateau gardens he designed in 2019, hearing about his inspiration and ideas.

Owner and co-host Suzie will share her story of how she came to live in this 200-year-old chateau far from home.

Your accommodation for the stay will be at Château de la Carrière where you will have your own private bedroom and bathroom and relax in the beautiful renovated interiors and roam the stunning gardens.  All meals and alcohol are included in your stay.   Enjoy your Château breakfasts of baguettes and croissants fresh from the bakery, homemade granola and jams, fruit from the Château gardens and good coffee.  Depending on the days activities your lunch will be served at the Château, on the go or at local restaurants . Each evening you will enjoy an aperitif and canapés followed by a 3-course seasonal menu prepared with produce from the Château organic potager and local suppliers, accompanied with French champagnes, local wines and home made cocktails. In between meals you can help yourself to a drink or snack from the Guest Kitchenette.  Dietary requirements can usually be accommodated.​

This is a small private tour limited to a maximum of 12 guests so to ensure your space please complete the booking request below.  You will then be contacted regarding payment of the deposit. Cost for the tour is as follows:

 

$8,000 AUD PER PERSON – SOLO ROOM OCCUPANCY

$7,500 AUD PER PERSON – SHARED ROOM

PAYMENT TERMS - on booking you will be required to pay a $1,000 AUD deposit. This will secure your place for 14 days whilst you arrange/confirm your travel arrangements.  If you decide not to proceed this deposit will be refunded back to you. 

Once your booking is confirmed you will then be charged 50% of the stay price (less the 1,000 booking deposit) with the remaining 50% payable 60 days before arrival.
